Fic: Time Out of Mind, GEN, PG13

So- back from vacation, and I'm still downloading pictures and stuff with which to spam you all.   I had a lovely time- a week in England with a side trip to Paris, and aside from the wicked sunburn I got bicycling out to Stonehenge it was all good.

In the meantime, how about kicking back and reading a little S2 SG-1 fic?  I know it's been a rough week for everyone- hopefully I can at least distract you guys a bit.   This is my last released zine fic.

* TITLE: Time Out of Mind
* CATEGORY: drama, action, hc
* SUMMARY: First they told him SG-1 was dead. Then Daniel had to watch them implant Jack with a Goa'uld. And as if that wasn't bad enough, he was reliving events he'd hoped never to remember, thanks to the memory device.
* SPOILERS: Out of Mind, Into the Fire
The characters mentioned in this story are the property of Showtime and Gekko Film Corp. The Stargate, SG-I, the Goa'uld and all other characters who have appeared in the series Stargate SG-1 together with the names, titles and backstory are the sole copyright property of MGM-UA Worldwide Television, Gekko Film Corp, Glassner/Wright Double Secret Productions and Stargate SG-I Prod. *THANKS to my fantastic betas, Aelfgyfu and aurora_novarum, as well as the story editor for Foundations- they all were amazing, and the story is much the better for it.

Well, as is not unusual, there were several things that needed 'fixing'  in these episodes, which were the starting points that got me writing to explain them.   I thought Daniel seemed a little too stunned in Out of Mind and Into the Fire, even given the circumstances.  Usually Daniel is at the very least more talkative if nothing else!  (Edit:  And as I was reminded by an offline comment, truly, Hathor was another of the episodes I really wanted to 'fix'- they seemed to gloss over Daniel's experiences there wa-ay too easily.  So- I thought.  Suppose the real reason he seems to shrug off Hathor is he doesn't get those memories back.  At least- not until the memory device.  )

And it really bothered me that one of the scenes he 'remembers' from Hathor was one he wasn't present for. So- the pen being mightier than the screen, once again I have leapt in to explain everything.  And while I was at it, how about a more satisfying ending than just ten seconds of  standing at a circle at the end?

This had its challenges to write- where Daniel doesn't say much, I had to work around that with the flashbacks inserting the few small scenes that were all I could reasonable jam into the canon.  I was pleased that I managed to get in the bit with Makepeace, helping set up their later animosity in Shades of Grey.   And as always, I wanted to be sure to deliver some original content
